Alphabet Improv

Created by: Lindberg Studios

Note (Lindberg Studios Recommended Rule): For the best experience, defeated Character cards are kept by the player who wins them. This turns the game into a true Trading Card Game—encouraging rematches to try and win back lost cards or grow your collection even more.

Needed for this Game:

  • Gooblur trading cards (your collection/deck)

  • Alphabet Dice

  • Timer (30 sec.)

How to Play — OFFICIAL RULES

👥 PLAYERS - Minimum: 3 players

  • Each round:

    • ⚔️ 2+ Battlers

    • 👀 1 Judge

🎯 OBJECTIVE

Roll. Think. Impress the judge.

Two or more players compete to match a rolled letter using their Gooblurs cards, while a third player judges the best answer. Roles rotate so everyone gets a turn as judge.

🏗️ Setup

  1. Each player shuffles their own deck and deals 5 character cards to their own hand

  2. Place remaining cards facedown as a personal draw pile

  3. Players must always have 5 cards in their hand

  4. Choose the first Judge (rotate each round)

🔁 Round Flow

1. Roll the Die

  • Judge rolls the letter die

2. Start the Timer

  • Battlers have 30 seconds

3. Play & Declare

Both battlers must:

  • Play 1 Gooblur card face-up

  • Say a name or trait that matches the letter

Examples:

  • Letter = S

    • “Slimy Gooblur”

    • “Super Gooblur”

    • “Sneaky Blob”

👉 Must be unique—no copying each other

4. Judge Decides

After time ends (or both players lock in):

  • Judge picks the winner based on:

    • Creativity

    • Funniest

    • Best match

🏆 Winning the Round

  • Winner earns 1 Gooblurs character card (draw from pile or take from opponent—your choice before game)

🔄 Rotate Roles

  • Judge rotates to the next player

  • A new player steps in as a battler

👉 Everyone gets equal turns judging and playing

Wild Rolls

If WILD is rolled, the Judge chooses:

  • Any letter
    OR

  • A twist:

    • Use 2 words

    • Act it out

    • Use a silly voice

    • Etc.

🏁 How to Win

  • First player to 3–5 cards wins
    or

  • Most cards after a set number of rounds
